Skateboard Verein Mayrhofen
The Mayrhofen Skateboard Club consists of many motivated and passionate skaters of all ages who have been visiting our park regularly for over 14 years and are committed to maintaining and expanding the skate park.
‘The maintenance, upkeep and expansion of our skate park, as well as the preservation and promotion of skateboard culture in the Zillertal, is very important to us skaters in Mayrhofen!’
‘With the SVM, we want to create a platform to realise our plans to maintain and expand our skate park.’
In the summer of '24, we were finally able to renovate the skate park. Damage to the concrete was repaired and a new sealant was applied. The surface of the concrete had become very rough in recent years and urgently needed to be sanded down to maintain and improve riding conditions. In addition to renovating the bowl, two further elements were integrated into the skate park: there is now a 6-metre-long curved ledge and a 2-metre granite bench for all street skaters.
‘It's getting crowded at the skate park! We need our own street skate area, which is long overdue and there aren't enough features for beginners and kids.’
The ‘Skatepark Mayrhofen’ project was to be carried out in two phases. The first phase was completed in 2011 and is still home to the skate scene in the Zillertal valley and beyond.
As the second phase (street area) is located in a red zone, the expansion plans cannot be implemented until a protective wall has been erected next to the site.
We are all eagerly awaiting the completion of the missing area as the scene continues to grow. Thanks in particular to our new children's skateboarding courses, we have had many newcomers to the park in recent months!
